Berkeley Park Stud Pty Ltd was established in 2009. After many years managing Horse Studs in Australia and a stint in Japan, Neale Bruce decided to use his passion for the thoroughbred industry and expertise, to set up on his own.

For the first three years Neale leased the property ‘Kilwinning,’ next to Scone Race Course, whilst he established the business. His right hand man in this venture was Irishman, Donal Reidy, an experienced Stud Manager who shared Neale’s vision. Between them they built a reputation for hard work, integrity and dedication. The brand Berkeley Park Stud (BF5) was born.

In 2013 Neale and his wife, Jenny, purchased a beautiful farm in Blandford, north of Scone. The property was already operating as an agistment farm and had excellent facilities for agisting and raising young thoroughbreds. It was perfect for what was required, surrounded by the Pages River with a combination of alluvial river flats, rolling hills and fertile grazing country.

As most thoroughbred enthusiasts are aware Scone is the “Horse Capital of Australia” making Berkeley Park conveniently close to all the major stud farms in the area including Arrowfield, Coolmore, Darley, Emirates, Newgate, Vinery, Widden and Yarraman. This allows easy access to ’walk’ on mares to all the top commercial stallion farms in the Hunter Valley.

In the seven years Berkeley Park Stud has been in operation we have offered small select drafts of yearlings, weanlings and broodmares at the major sales.

A high percentage of the horses reared on the farm are retained by their owners to race. The farm graduates to date are headed by the 2017 World Champion Sprinter Chautauqua. Chautauqua was consigned by the farm at the 2012 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale and was bred and foaled by the Berkeley Park Stud team.

Other notable elite level performers bred and foaled on the farm are Extreme Choice and Scales of Justice together with black type performers Miss Vonn, Lady Tatia, Faraway Town, Denmagic, and Flippant to name a few.
